Avid DNxHD encoding is engineered to create mastering-quality HD media at dramatically reduced file sizes. Avid DNxHD shatters the barriers to real-time HD productivity, whether using local storage or in a real-time collaborative workflow.

Avid DNxHD gives customers more choices when building their workflows because it is the first codec compliant with SMPTE VC-3. More than 30 partners have licensed Avid DNxHD technology, which enables you to extend workflows throughout your facility. This compliance also delivers the availability of a new standard for mapping VC-3 coding units into MXF - making Avid DNxHD encoding the professional standard for file exchange, data archiving, and media workflow.

Uncompromised Quality
Uncompressed HD delivers superior image quality, but data rates and file sizes can stop a workflow dead in its tracks. Avid DNxHD delivers both efficiency and quality without compromises. Avid DNxHD encoding offers a choice of 8- or 10-bit sampling for all HD formats at a variety of data rates, as well as the ability to maintain image quality more effectively than any other HD codec.

High Definition - Low Overhead
You need to move to HD but you don't want to pay for the overhead. Avid DNxHD encoding makes this possible. Uncompressed HD requires too much storage to be economically practical in most situations. Avid DNxHD encoding requires significantly less storage which helps your business stay profitable.

Media Composer Nitris DX integrates the Media Composer and Avid Symphony toolset with the new Avid Nitris DX hardware for a remarkably responsive, high performance, multi-codec SD and HD editing solution.

The new Avid Nitris DX architecture tightly connects the host graphics chip, multiple CPU cores, and PCI Express I/O hardware into a single high-bandwidth, high-performance effects engine. The architecture is optimized for highly responsive real-time editing using the latest generation of HD codecs, including HDV, XDCAM-HD, AVC-I, and Avid DNxHD, in a multi-threaded effects pipeline engineered to take maximum advantage of the host CPU and GPU resources.

Native integration of P2, XDCAM-HD, and HDV formats lets you focus on editing, not getting data into and out of the system. The Avid DNxHD36 codec provides the perfect solution for HD offline. Need to go out to DVD, Blu-ray, or the Web? Sorensen Squeeze and Avid DVD by Sonic (PC only) are included for multi-format output.
